OpenStack Start Instances: Create them!

what server

OpenStack Start Instance is a command to create a new cloud instance. The CLI or Horizon web interface can be used.

Instances, which are virtual machines running in the cloud and using images from different projects, use a pool of images. They contain an operating system as well as a user ID and password.

A boot source image is used to create an instance. Volumes or custom configurations can also be used. The boot source image can be either an existing cloud image or a snapshot.

Bootstrap-image allows you to create a new instance from a snapshot. This option is only available to administrators of your cloud.

For you to create an instance from a snapshot, the volume must be valid and have enough space for the image. If the volume has insufficient space to boot the image you can delete the volume before launching the instance.

Boot source: Select a flavor that meets the required memory, compute, and disk capacity for your instance. Flavors which do not offer enough resources will be marked with a warning icon in the Available Table.

Next, you will need to specify the required number of CPUs for your instance. If your selected flavor doesn't meet these requirements the instance won't launch. A warning will appear in the Available Table.

If you choose the flavor with the minimal requirements, you can increase the size of your volume. This allows you to store more software on a volume if that is what you select as your boot source.

You can choose a network after you've set the boot source for the instance. The nics parameter can accept a list of networks that you want to attach the instance to, or it can be specified as a net-id/net-name/port-id or port-name string.

You can also specify the floating IP address. This can be used to connect your instance to both a project network or to the external internet if using a Router.

In order to assign an instance to a network project, you first need to connect the network project to a gateway that is configured with the external network. The external network must have a subnet that can provide the floating IP addresses.

Then you will need to assign it to a group. A security group provides access to your instance with SSH or other protocols that you allow.

After the instance has been assigned a security group you can access it outside of the cloud. Configure the network the instance connects to, and then use SSH to gain access. This is more convenient, but doesn't give you full control over access to the instance.

If you do not want to assign the instance to a security group, you can use the --os-delete-security-group option. This returns the instance back to the pool and removes it from the group.

What is a responsive website design?

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is an approach to designing websites where content displays responsively on all devices - desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, etc. This allows users access all features of a website, including navigation menus, buttons and buttons, on one device. The goal of RWD is to ensure that when a user views a site on any screen size, they view the exact version of the site.

You would, for example, want to make sure that a customer can view your website even on a mobile device.

A responsive site will adapt to the device used to view it. Your laptop will view the website exactly as a normal desktop site. However, if you're viewing the page on your phone, it will display differently.

This allows you to create one website that works on all devices.

Can I use HTML & CCS to build my website?

Yes, you can! You'll need to be familiar with web design concepts and programming languages such HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language), CSS, and CascadingStyle Sheets. These languages enable you to create websites that are accessible to anyone with an internet connection.
